I am currently recruiting for a Software Systems Engineer to join a leading organisation based in South Wales. This is a hands on engineering role, sitting at the point where software meets physical hardware.
A key part of this position will involve supporting and developing existing VB.NET control software systems, alongside contributing to future software projects using the most appropriate technologies
Salary - £55,000 - £60,000 per annum
Location - Bridgend
Responsibilites
*Design, develop and maintain software and control systems for automated machinery.
*Analyse software requirements based on product specifications and customer requirements.
*Develop software using VB.NET and other appropriate technologies.
*Produce system specifications covering software design, interfaces and product requirements.
*Develop test plans, procedures and supporting technical documentation.
*Work closely with engineering, product development and production teams throughout the design, build and testing lifecycle.
*Integrate software with physical hardware and machine control systems.
*Investigate and resolve software and system issues across development, testing and live environments.
*Implement bug fixes, system modifications and product enhancements.
*Support the continued development and maintenance of existing VB.NET control systems.
*Liaise with customers, contractors and other technical stakeholders where required.
*Provide occasional support for installations at customer sites internationally.
Experience Required
*5+ years’ commercial software development experience.
*Strong experience developing software using VB.NET
*Previous software development experience within an engineering, manufacturing, automation or machine-control environment.
*Experience or a strong understanding of software interacting with physical hardware.
*An understanding of machine control and/or motion control systems.
*HND, degree or equivalent experience within Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
