Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Cover Supervisor in Bushey to supervise secondary classes when their usual teacher is absent. You will deliver the instructions for pre-set work, maintain a productive classroom and help pupils stay on task. This role suits someone with strong experience working with young people who can manage a classroom calmly and confidently.
Your responsibilities*Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, following the work provided.
*Take registers and explain tasks clearly so pupils can begin promptly.
*Apply the school’s behaviour policy consistently and seek support when needed.
*Respond to questions about instructions and encourage independent working.
*Leave clear feedback on completed work, engagement and any concerns.
What you will need*Experience supervising or supporting groups of secondary-age young people.
*Confidence managing classroom behaviour and communicating expectations.
*Good literacy, numeracy and organisation; QTS is not required for this role.
Previous cover supervision, teaching assistant, tutoring or school-based coaching experience is useful. A degree is desirable where relevant, but practical experience matters.
The role provides broad secondary classroom experience. Lesson planning and teacher assessment responsibilities are not part of the proposed cover brief.
