Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant in Walthamstow to support pupils with autism and speech, language and communication needs. You will work alongside teaching staff to help children understand activities, communicate choices and participate in school life. This role focuses on consistent support and achievable steps towards greater independence.
Your responsibilities*Support individual pupils and small groups with adapted classroom activities.
*Use visual resources and agreed communication systems to make instructions clear.
*Reinforce language and interaction activities planned by teaching staff.
*Help pupils manage changes in routine, sensory needs and social situations.
*Record progress towards individual targets and share observations with the class team.
What you will need*Previous UK primary teaching assistant or relevant school-based SEND experience.
*Experience supporting autism or speech, language and communication needs.
*A patient approach, clear communication and willingness to follow individual plans.
Makaton, PECS or experience working alongside speech and language professionals would be useful, but is not essential.
This position suits someone who enjoys helping pupils communicate more confidently and become active participants in classroom learning.
