Full job descriptionElevation Recruitment Group are excited to be exclusively partnered with a specialist chemical formulation manufacturer, based in Huddersfield, who are looking to appoint a Production and Engineering Manager to take ownership of production output and the plant behind it.
The business formulates and packs liquid crop protection products for agricultural and industrial customers in the UK and Europe, and is part of an international group that is putting money into the site, its capability and its compliance. Reporting into the General Manager, the Production and Engineering Manager will run the production team and the maintenance of the equipment, working closely with the Operations Manager on continuous improvement.
This is a hands on site leadership role where you own the outcome end to end, getting orders out on time and in full, keeping plant reliable and compliant, and building a tidy, safe and well run site. It suits someone who wants both production and engineering under one roof rather than arguing with a separate maintenance function about why a line went down.


Working Hours: Days based, Monday to Friday
Duties of the Production and Engineering Manager will include:
*Leading the production team to deliver customer orders on time and in full
*Owning the maintenance of all production equipment, making sure it is reliable and fit for purpose
*Building and running a robust planned preventative maintenance programme
*Making sure working procedures, safe systems of work and legislative compliance are followed across the site
*Controlling the departmental budget
*Working with the Operations Manager to improve operational performance through 5S and Lean
*Maintaining a clean, safe and well organised site, supporting risk assessments and Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
*Coaching the team, running performance reviews and mentoring trainees and apprentices
Requirements of the Production and Engineering Manager:
*Experience managing production in a chemical, process or liquids manufacturing environment
*Hands on engineering or maintenance background, ideally time served or engineering qualified
*Proven experience setting up or running a planned preventative maintenance programme
*Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety, risk assessment and safe systems of work in a regulated site
*Track record of delivering OTIF and improving performance using 5S and Lean
*Experience managing a departmental budget
*Collaborative leadership style, able to bring people with you and take input from all levels
