Rotherham | Days Only, Mon - Fri |
Salary up to £67,000 per annum DOE + Excellent Benefits
An established medium / heavy manufacturing business in Rotherham is looking to appoint an experienced Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer to join their engineering team.
This is a hands-on controls position for someone who is confident taking ownership of automation projects from concept through to commissioning. You’ll be working extensively with Allen Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000, developing new programmes from scratch, modifying existing systems and providing expert fault-finding support across the site.
The role is fully factory based, Monday to Friday on days, with a strong focus on project delivery, automation improvements and technical problem solving.
The RoleAs a Senior Controls Engineer, you’ll be responsible for delivering automation and controls projects across the manufacturing facility, as well as supporting and improving existing equipment.
You’ll be involved in:
*Designing, developing and programming PLC control systems
*Writing PLC programmes from scratch using Allen Bradley / Studio 5000
*Modifying and improving existing PLC programmes and control systems
*Carrying out complex PLC and electrical fault finding
*Taking ownership of automation projects from initial design through to installation and commissioning
*Working on turnkey automation projects, ensuring systems are delivered to specification
*Commissioning new machinery and automated equipment
*Developing control solutions to improve reliability, efficiency and production performance
*Supporting existing production equipment and resolving technical issues
*Working closely with electrical, mechanical, production and maintenance teams
*Liaising with external suppliers, contractors and integrators where required
*Providing technical input on future automation and continuous improvement projects
We’re looking for an experienced Controls Engineer who can operate independently and has a strong track record of delivering PLC and automation projects.
You’ll ideally have:
*Proven experience working as a Controls Engineer, PLC Engineer, Automation Engineer or similar
*Strong Allen Bradley PLC experience
*Hands-on experience using Studio 5000
*Experience writing and developing PLC programmes from scratch
*Strong PLC fault-finding and diagnostic experience
*Experience modifying, developing and improving existing control systems
*A proven background delivering automation or controls projects
*Experience working on turnkey projects, ideally taking projects through design, programming, installation and commissioning
*Strong electrical and controls knowledge
*Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment
*The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish
*HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification would be advantageous
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business where you’ll have genuine ownership of automation projects rather than simply providing reactive PLC support.
You’ll be working on a mixture of new automation projects, PLC programming, commissioning, system modifications and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to have a real impact on the site’s automation capability.
