Full job descriptionA fantastic opportunity has become available for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Welwyn Garden City from October.
This SEN Teaching Assistant position in Welwyn Garden City offers invaluable experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder , speech and language needs, and other additional learning requirements. You will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning while supporting their confidence, independence, wellbeing, and academic development.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom-based support alongside tailored one-to-one interventions. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff to create a positive, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide targeted in-class and one-to-one support for pupils with SEN and ASD
*Assist teachers with engaging lessons and differentiated learning resources
*Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
*Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
*Encourage confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
*Support behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans
*Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff
Candidate Requirements
*Previous experience working with children or within an SEN setting is advantageous
*Genuine interest in Special Educational Needs and child development
*Understanding of ASD and speech and language needs is desirable
*Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*Reliable, proactive, and adaptable attitude
*Passion for making a positive difference in young people’s lives
*Ability to commute to Welwyn Garden City
