Job Description:
Full job descriptionI’m recruiting a Payroll Specialist to provide operational support to Payroll Team Leadership and help deliver a high-quality payroll, pensions and expenses service. You’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant processing, meeting SLAs/KPIs, and driving continuous improvement through standardisation, automation and stronger controls.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide support to Payroll Team Leadership to enable consistent delivery of high-quality payroll and pensions services across the business.
*Deliver against agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring outcomes align with wider business objectives.
*Take ownership of assigned areas of responsibility, proactively solving problems, sharing knowledge across the team, and supporting a culture of accountability and collaboration.
*Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, pensions and colleague expenses within your assigned remit.
*Maintain full compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks (including HMRC, pension legislation, and audit standards).
*Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, building effective relationships with Finance, People/HR, the wider business and third-party providers.
*Support governance requirements by managing risk, resolving issues and ensuring appropriate controls are followed (within your area of responsibility).
*Identify and deliver process improvement opportunities, with a focus on standardisation, automation and reducing manual intervention to improve efficiency and employee experience.
*Act as a subject matter expert in payroll and pensions administration, providing knowledgeable guidance and support to stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
*Strong experience in payroll processing and payroll administration in a fast-paced environment.
*Solid knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance requirements (including HMRC).
*Experience administering workplace pensions and understanding key pension legislation and governance requirements.
*Proven ability to work to SLAs/KPIs with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
*Confident stakeholder management skills and ability to build credible working relationships across Finance/HR and third-party providers.
*A continuous improvement mindset-able to spot inefficiencies and implement practical solutions.
*Strong organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
