*Annual Salary: £28,000 per annum
*Location: Chelmsford
*Job Type: Full-time, Onsite (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm with 1 hour lunch)
We are seeking a Finance Assistant to support our day-to-day finance operations, focusing on both accounts payable and accounts receivable. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, supporting payment and credit control processes, and assisting with month-end activities. The Finance Assistant will work closely with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger:
*Receive, check, and process supplier invoices accurately.
*Match invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes, resolving discrepancies.
*Prepare and process supplier payment runs on time.
*Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any outstanding items.
*Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment queries.
*Maintain accurate purchase ledger records within the accounting system.
*Accounts Receivable / Sales Ledger:
*Generate and issue customer invoices timely.
*Record and allocate incoming payments to the correct accounts.
*Monitor outstanding balances and support credit control activities.
*Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
*Respond to customer queries regarding invoices and payments.
*Assist with bank reconciliations and prepare monthly customer statements.
*General Finance Support:
*Process employee expense claims in compliance with company policies.
*Maintain accurate financial records and assist with month-end close processes.
*Prepare finance reports, including debt analysis and cash flow information.
*Provide administrative and financial support to the finance function.
*Ensure transactions comply with financial regulations and audit requirements.
*Reconcile company credit card statements and ensure proper documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in finance, purchase ledger, sales ledger, accounts payable, or accounts receivable.
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
*Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
*Effective communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
*Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
*Proactive, reliable, and professional work approach.
