Description
The Warehouse & Logistics Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and planning for the full warehouse and goods-in function across a multi-warehouse environment, with clear ownership and accountability for operational performance.
Based in West Sussex, the role will optimise warehouse facilities, layout, capacity and workflows to ensure stock is received, stored, picked, packed and dispatched accurately, safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage the day-to-day operation of all warehouse areas, including goods-in, stock put-away, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, dispatch, returns and stock movements.
*Take ownership of performance across multiple warehouse locations, ensuring consistent processes, clear standards and effective communication between sites.
*Lead, manage and develop warehouse staff, including workload planning, task allocation, training, performance management, absence cover and day-to-day supervision.
*Work with internal stakeholders to improve warehouse system functionality, ensuring processes support accurate stock control, efficient order fulfilment and reliable reporting.
*Drive improvements in warehouse layout, workflow, space utilisation and stock organisation to support productivity, accuracy and future business growth.
*Reduce picking, packing, goods-in and stock movement errors by introducing clear procedures, controls, checks, training and performance monitoring.
*Maintain accurate stock records through robust stock control disciplines, cycle counts, investigations, corrective actions and collaboration with purchasing, customer service and finance teams.
*Monitor key performance indicators including stock accuracy, order accuracy, goods-in turnaround, picking productivity, dispatch performance, error rates and staff performance.
*Ensure warehouse operations comply with health and safety requirements, company procedures, equipment rules, manual handling expectations and housekeeping standards.
*Support business projects relating to warehouse systems, ERP/WMS functionality, process automation, scanning, reporting and operational change.
*Work collaboratively with senior management and other departments to ensure warehouse activity supports customer service, purchasing, sales and wider business objectives.


Profile
The successful Warehouse & Logistics Director will live within a commuting distance of our clients operation in West Sussex and be able to demonstrate the following experience:
*Proven experience managing warehouse operations, ideally across more than one warehouse or stockholding location.
*Strong knowledge of goods-in, stock control, picking, packing, dispatch and inventory management processes.
*Experience implementing or improving barcode scanning, WMS, ERP or stock management systems.
*Confident people manager with experience leading, training and developing warehouse teams.
*Strong process improvement mindset with the ability to identify errors, root causes and practical corrective actions.
*Good understanding of warehouse KPIs, reporting, stock accuracy and productivity measures.
*Commercially aware, with an understanding of how warehouse performance affects cost, accuracy, delivery and customer satisfaction.
*Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads across multiple areas and deadlines.
*High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance and customer service.
*Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements within a warehouse environment.
*Confident using Microsoft Office and warehouse, stock or ERP systems.
*Hands-on, practical and solutions-focused approach.


Job Offer
*Salary ranging from £60,000 to £70,000, dependent on the level of experience.
