Full job descriptionPastoral Teaching Assistant - Emotional Wellbeing & Learning Support (SEMH)Location: Leverhulme, Bolton
Salary: £95-£110 per day, dependent on experience
Contract: Long-term, full-time, with potential for a permanent position

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Pastoral Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in the Little Lever area of Bolton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with experience in pastoral care, SEN, SEMH, or emotional wellbeing support who can combine nurturing pastoral support with helping a child engage successfully with their learning.
The child has experienced significant challenges and requires a consistent, trusted adult who can provide emotional support, encouragement and appropriate learning support throughout the school day.
The Role*Providing individual pastoral and learning support.
*Building a strong, positive and trusting relationship with the child.
*Supporting emotional wellbeing and regulation.
*Providing appropriate brain breaks and opportunities for regulation.
*Helping the child to re-engage with learning following periods of dysregulation.
*Supporting confidence, resilience and positive relationships.
*Identifying barriers to learning and implementing appropriate strategies.
*Working closely with the class teacher and wider pastoral/SEN team.
*Encouraging independence and positive engagement with school.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will ideally have experience in:
*Pastoral support or mentoring.
*SEN or learning support.
*Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.
*Emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
*Building strong relationships with children who may have experienced difficult circumstances.
*Providing structured brain breaks and regulation strategies.
*Supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
You will need to be:
*Calm and patient.
*Empathetic and non-judgemental.
*Consistent and reliable.
*Resilient and emotionally intelligent.
*Able to build trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
*Confident balancing pastoral support with learning expectations.
This is initially a long-term role with the potential to become permanent.
The school would be particularly interested in hearing from experienced pastoral practitioners, teaching assistants, learning mentors or SEN professionals who feel they could make a genuine difference to this child.
The school has excellent transport links and is easy accessible from surrounding areas of Bury, Wigan and Salford.
