Full job descriptionSchool CaretakerLondon | 36 Hours per Week | Monday-Friday | Rota Shifts
Are you a reliable and practical individual with experience in caretaking, facilities or maintenance? We are looking for a School Caretaker to join a busy school site in London, helping to ensure the buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a safe, clean and welcoming standard for students, staff and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and takes pride in maintaining high standards across a site.
Working Hours*36 hours per week
*Monday-Friday
*Rota-based shifts:
*6:00am-2:00pm
*8:00am-4:00pm
*11:00am-7:00pm
*Friday operating hours: 6:00am-3:00pm
Key Responsibilities*Carry out routine inspections of school buildings, grounds and facilities.
*Respond to and report maintenance issues, defects and hazards.
*Complete basic maintenance and minor repair works.
*Ensure external areas, pathways and entrances remain clean, safe and presentable.
*Set up rooms and assist with furniture moves and school events.
*Liaise with contractors and support external maintenance activities.
*Assist with health and safety checks across the site.
*Support waste management and general site cleanliness.
*Work closely with cleaning, facilities and security teams.
*Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues as required.
*Follow all health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
Please note: Opening and closing of the site is managed by the school’s security team.
About You*Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities or similar role.
*Good practical and DIY skills.
*Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
*Strong communication skills and a proactive approach.
*Able to work effectively as part of a team.
*Understanding of health and safety requirements.
*Flexible to work the rota shift pattern.
*Previous experience within a school environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
