Job Description:
Full job descriptionAt Ormiston Families, we believe everyone in the East of England deserves to feel happier, stronger and understood. For more than 45 years, we’ve been supporting children, young people and families to overcome challenges, improve emotional wellbeing and build brighter futures. Everything we do is rooted in our values of collaboration, compassion and effectiveness, and we’re proud to work alongside people rather than simply for them, creating lasting change through trusted relationships, early intervention and evidence-based support.
YOUnited is a partnership with Centre 33 and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust (CPFT), providing a single point of access for children and young people across the county to access mental health support. The Children and Young People’s (CYP) Mental Health (MH) practitioner will work as part of the YOUnited referral hub, on behalf of Ormiston Families and the wider Ormiston Families team.
This role will focus on providing meaningful first contacts with children, young people and/or parents and carers, as well as working flexibly to support the service. The role is remote, and therefore, contact with families & young people/children takes place over the phone or via video call.
Appointments with children, young people, and their families will require you to use a single-session thinking approach, carry out a more clinical mental health assessment, and provide advice and guidance in line with your training and qualifications.
You will hold a qualification in children’s mental health and have experience of working with children, young people and parents presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. Qualifications may include Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP), Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP), Counsellors, Mental Health Nurses, and other similar qualifications.
The post advertised is a full-time temporary position for 12 months.
The starting salary for this post is £28,294per annum, based on 35 hours per week. Please note that the advertised salary is the standard starting salary for the role. Consideration can be made for exceptional candidates.
Applications from a range of experienced and qualified practitioners would be welcomed.
This is a remote position; a confidential space with good internet is required.
For further information and to apply, please visit our website.
Closing date for applications: 9am, Monday 2nd November 2026
Safeguarding and DBS requirements for your role: Ormiston Families is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts.
We are an equal opportunities employer; we value diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
