People Solutions are currently recruiting for HGV Class 2 Drivers to join our client’s growing transport operation based in Burton-on-Trent, covering the surrounding areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading retail companies, offering £16.25 per hour, weekly pay, immediate starts, full training and ongoing work beyond the Christmas period. This is not temporary Christmas cover.

This position is ideal for applicants looking for a role as an HGV Class 2 Driver, LGV Class 2 Driver, Category C Driver, Rigid HGV Driver or Multi-Drop Delivery Driver.
Shifts
• Early morning starts between 01:30 and 04:00
• Flexibility required within the start-time window
• Occasional planned nights out may be required
• Expenses for planned nights out paid in advance
• Ongoing work beyond the Christmas period
Rates of Pay
• £16.25 per hour
• PAYE – holiday pay accrued separately
• Weekly pay

Day-to-Day Duties
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
• Safely operating HGV Class 2 vehicles to and from delivery locations
• Delivering goods using roller cages
• Completing loading and unloading duties safely and accurately
• Carrying out some manual handling and handball duties
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting defects to management
• Following road traffic legislation and transport safety procedures
• Maintaining accurate delivery records and paperwork
• Communicating effectively with transport teams, customers and site staff
Essential Skills
To be successful as an HGV Class 2 Driver, you will need:
• Valid UK Category C driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card
• No more than six penalty points for minor offences
• No IN, DR, DD or CD driving offence codes
• Understanding of road safety and driver compliance
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Reliable, professional and punctual attitude
• Flexibility to work early morning starts
• Willingness to undertake occasional planned nights out
• Ability to carry out manual handling and handball duties safely
Desirable Experience
• Previous commercial HGV Class 2 driving experience
• Previous multi-drop or retail delivery experience
• Experience delivering goods using roller cages
• Experience handling large or bulky goods
• Good customer interaction and service skills
Training Provided
• Full industry-related training provided
• Ongoing support and development throughout your assignment
