Job Description:
Full job descriptionWe are looking for an analytical and financially astute Credit Controller to join an established finance team in a role that goes beyond traditional debt collection.
Alongside managing outstanding debt, you will take ownership of income forecasting, complex debt analysis and high-level financial reporting, providing key insights to senior stakeholders, including the CFO and CEO.
With millions of pounds passing through the ledger each month, accuracy and forward planning are critical. You will need to understand what income is expected, identify potential shortfalls and ensure the right actions are taken to keep cash flow on track.
Key responsibilities*Reporting and analysis: Produce detailed reports on debt, ledger movements, cash collected, accruals and income performance for senior management.
*Income forecasting: Monitor expected income, identify risks and highlight potential shortfalls well in advance.
*Complex debt management: Investigate aged and historic debt, resolve payment issues and develop solutions to secure outstanding income.
*Ledger oversight: Analyse variances, investigate discrepancies and ensure financial information is accurate.
*Business partnering: Lead financial review meetings with Heads of Service, discussing income performance, outstanding debt and agreed actions.
*Stakeholder engagement: Work closely with senior management, operational teams and finance colleagues to improve collection and financial visibility.
*Team support: Collaborate with the wider income team, balancing effective delegation with a hands-on approach.
About youThis role would suit someone looking to move beyond conventional credit control into a more analytical and commercially focused finance position.
You will bring:
*Experience in credit control, income management, debt analysis or a related finance role.
*Strong analytical skills and experience producing meaningful financial reports.
*An understanding of forecasting, cash flow, accruals and ledger management.
*The confidence to investigate complex debt, solve problems and take ownership.
*Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and operational teams.
Unit4 experience would be beneficial but is not essential. Professional qualifications and sector experience are also not required; financial understanding, analytical ability and a proactive approach are the priorities.
The opportunityThis is an opportunity to develop beyond traditional credit control, gaining exposure to senior-level reporting, forecasting and business partnering within a supportive, established team.
For someone who enjoys working with financial data, solving complex problems and influencing decisions across the organisation, this role offers a strong platform for future progression into more senior finance responsibilities.
