In a nutshell the latest Report shows that the jobs market is continuing to bounce back and demonstrate strong signs that business confidence is flowing back with these key findings ?
Unprecedented increase in demand for permanent staff
Availability of workers deteriorates at a record pace
Early signs of sharper rise in starting pay
On a local basis we are seeing that the jobs market is improving at the fastest pace we have ever seen in Plum?s 20-year history. It is an unpredictable time.
The ending of furlough and greater candidate confidence may help to meet this rising demand for staff. We are advising clients of the benefits in re-assessing their workforce plans and that positioning themselves as an ?employer of choice? is a must.
The jobs market seems to be firing on all cylinders ? with the Midlands leading the way!
The Report shows that recruitment activity surged once again in June with greater demand for staff and the return to more normal business conditions as lockdown measures eased and business confidence improved, the growth in permanent opportunities expanded at the quickest rate since the survey began in 1997!
The upturn in temporary workers was among the fastest in the survey history and at the same time, the availability of workers declined at an unprecedented rate.
A further record was the quickest rates on record of both permanent and temporary staff falling at the fastest rates on record.
Conversations with clients across sectors show that increased hiring, Brexit, pandemic-related uncertainty and the furlough scheme all play a significant part on candidate numbers.
Not in the Report but worthy of mention is the finding of a recent poll we carried out showing 70% of professionals are now placing ?flexible working? as their number one priority when considering their next career move.
