Senior Façade Engineer - Birmingham - £70,000 - £80,000 Per Annum, Pension, Healthcare, Profit Share, Company Share Scheme & Corporate Bonus
An opportunity for a career change to the consistently buoyant and technically varied forensic profession. This is a role for a senior façade engineer with a leader in forensic investigations for the built environment, a highly regarded practice and generous employer. This is an independent firm with a growing international presence, they are currently going through a planned period of expansion, you will have the opportunity to become a shareholder and to progress your career. For someone with an interest in litigation the role is also a path to becoming an expert witness , this is entirely optional and additional training is provided.
The Company: A leading international forensic investigations consultancy, highly regarded for their built environment expertise, their civil and structural engineers investigate and determine the root cause of civil engineering and structural failures within the buildings, highways, rail, development infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors. Their findings are regularly used to settle litigation cases and as a catalyst to improve existing design and construction methods. They are an admired employer providing generous terms and conditions of employment, plus excellent career development opportunities.
Your Role: You will be investigating the cause and origin of façade related defects through to catastrophic failures, your findings will be used to resolve legal disputes, claims and to improve standards in the UK and internationally. During initial site investigations you will typically oversee field testing, gather photographic evidence and interview witnesses. This information will enable you to unravel the root cause of failure. You will then prepare a report that provides a clear explanation of your findings. This needs to be expressed in a way that can be understood by those from a non-technical background, whilst being robust enough to pass scrutiny should litigation arise.
Background Required: A chartered - or nearing - civil engineer (MICE), structural engineer (MIStructE) or architect (RIBA). You should have a façade design background, ideally gained with a design consultancy or architectural practice. You will be working at senior or project engineer level, or above and have strong technical and lateral thinking skills.
